Wayland assessors approve $89,276 excise commitment and 41 Chapter Land parcels

WAYLAND — October 17, 2022 — Wayland assessors approve $89,276 excise commitment and 41 Chapter Land parcels. The Board of Assessors, chaired by Zachariah L. Ventress, voted unanimously Oct. 17 to commit a fifth fiscal 2023 motor vehicle excise warrant of $89,276.05 covering 359 vehicles, and to approve 41 fiscal 2024 Chapter Land applications on a motion by Ventress seconded by Vice-Chair Philip Parks. The warrant is the first to run to new full-time Treasurer-Collector Breton Marasco, and the assessing director said the office would check with Finance Director Brian on whether a separate transfer warrant is needed to affirm "what's outstanding" from the prior collector. The director also reported that consultant David Valuti's contract was extended through year-end as a final extension, that Assistant Assessor Mary Ann resigned effective Oct. 14, and that disclosure postcards for fiscal 2023 interim values will mail ahead of a Nov. 7–14 disclosure period.
