Wayland opens public comment on electricity aggregation plan

WAYLAND — October 17, 2022 — Wayland opens 30-day comment period on municipal electricity aggregation plan. The Energy and Climate Committee on Oct. 17 launched public review of Wayland Electricity Choice, with comments due Nov. 17 before the town files with the state Department of Public Utilities. Consultants Marlena Patten and Paul Gromer of MassPowerChoice told roughly eight attendees the program will offer three tiers — a default "Wayland Standard Green" above the state renewable minimum, a 100% green upgrade, and an economy option — all with long-term stable pricing, while Eversource continues delivery and billing. Chair Ellen Tohn called the launch one of more than 30 actions in the town's climate plan, saying the committee is "incredibly excited" to be moving forward. Gromer said DPU review historically took four to six months but neighboring Weston has waited two years. The committee adjourned 5-0.
