Trust Fund Commission authorizes RFP for Levitt trust administration
WAYLAND -- March 14, 2023, Wayland Trust Fund Commission votes 3-0 to seek outside administrator for $238,000 Levitt trust. Chair Nicole Sissel said town counsel confirmed the Suzanne Levitt Charitable Trust's governing documents required full distribution by Dec. 31, 2018, leaving the commission obligated to disburse the roughly $238,000 balance as of Feb. 28. Commissioner Adam Garrett Gutbezahl said procurement rules bar a direct handoff: "We have the authority to disperse the funds, but to ensure that we, as a public entity, comply with procurement, we have to issue a solicitation." The motion authorizes the town manager's office to issue an RFP for an organization to aid Wayland residents of at least one year with necessities of daily life; Gutbezahl, Sissel and Commissioner Barry Rothschild all voted yes. Lynn Dowd of the Wayland Community Fund asked whether the RFP would bar administrative fees.
