Select Board votes 5-0 to enter executive session on town meeting litigation
WAYLAND -- August 21, 2020, Wayland Select Board votes 5-0 to enter executive session on town meeting litigation. The board convened Friday morning for the sole purpose of discussing strategy concerning the town's authority to seat duly elected officials before holding an annual town meeting, a procedural question raised by pandemic-era disruptions to the spring 2020 calendar. The chair invoked Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(3), stating that public discussion "may have a detrimental effect on the litigating, negotiating, or bargaining position of the town." Members Tom, Doug, Mary, Lee and Cherry all voted yes. Town Administrator Louise Miller, Management Analyst Seth Crandall and town counsel Carolyn Murray and Lauren Goldberg were invited to attend. The board entered executive session at 8:17 a.m. and adjourned from it without returning to public session.
