Recreation Commission reelects Foster as chair, eyes 14 West Plain Street
WAYLAND -- July 8, 2025, Wayland Recreation Commission reelects Foster, opens door to 14 West Plain Street acquisition. The commission on July 8 unanimously returned Asa B. Foster to the chair and named Michael Grant clerk, then agreed to explore a roughly $1.5 million property abutting Cochituate ballpark that the Select Board has flagged as a possible recreation site. Member Jeff Bergeron said the parcel would aid "the functional use of Cochituate Park," citing parking, storage and indoor-program needs. Lesley Stewart was reappointed to the Community Preservation Committee. Nicolette Mascari of the Wayland Dog Park Committee secured Aug. 19 agenda time, citing data that one in three Wayland households owns a dog. The commission also discussed a $150-per-hour field rental charged to a 70-player high-school-age soccer league that falls outside MIAA and community-group definitions.
