Historical Commission backs Dudley Pond stormwater grant bid

WAYLAND — April 22, 2024 — Historical Commission unanimously backs $200,000 Dudley Pond stormwater grant. The Wayland Historical Commission voted 5-0 on Monday to send a letter of support for the town's pending Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness application, which would fund a watershed-wide stormwater inventory, a nutrient analysis and a green-infrastructure case study on a closed section of Lakeshore Drive near numbers 122-124. Town Engineer Abigail told commissioners the town would match the state ask with $20,000 — $10,000 cash from DPW and $10,000 in-kind — and that some 1980s-era leaching basins on private or unowned parcels have gone unmaintained: "It's not my understanding that they've been maintained over the years." Members including Chair Bradford Carver and Tonya Largy pressed on archaeological sensitivity near Mansion Beach; the engineer pledged to share original construction drawings before any excavation.
