Capital panel trims report, flags staffing gap
Capital Improvement Planning Committee · Meeting of September 30, 2026
Wayland capital committee spends full meeting editing its report as October 15 deadline nears. The three-member Capital Improvement Planning Committee, led by Acting Chair Bradford Carver with Acting Vice Chair John Kliem absent, restructured its executive summary around $70.4 million in requests for 152 projects, 97 of them unchanged from last year's plan. School Committee representative Brian O'Herlihy reported the Board of Public Works appears unlikely to support a $500,000 water asset management plan or a $380,000 transfer station roll-off vehicle, calling the transfer station "at best break even," but members left both requests in as submitted.
O'Herlihy said capital closeouts look worth "at best a hundred" thousand dollars this year against the $600,000 to $700,000 others expected. Member Elizabeth Lusky said the committee should not chase them: "You get what you get and you comment on it and move on."
