Wayland ZBA clears Herb Chambers expansion and Parmenter Road deck

WAYLAND — September 12, 2023 — Wayland ZBA approves Herb Chambers expansion and Parmenter Road deck, defers two cases. The board voted 4-0 to grant site plan approval, variances and special permits for a service-bay addition at the Herb Chambers dealership at 533 Boston Post Road, ending a seven-meeting review that began in February. Attorney Joshua Fox said parking was cut from 119 to 114 spaces after the Conservation Commission asked the dealer to vacate a 30-foot buffer, and that all lighting is dark-sky compliant and dims "by 50 percent" after hours. Member Hunter Perry recused, citing his recent appointment. The board separately voted 5-0 to grant Molly Nathanson a special permit for a deck at 11 Parmenter Road sitting 4.4 feet from the rear line. Chair Joshua Wernig continued a Bayfield Road teardown-rebuild and a 9 Simpson Road addition to Oct. 10, citing missing Board of Health approvals.
