Wayland ZBA approves two setback projects, continues a third for survey

WAYLAND -- March 11, 2025, Wayland ZBA approves Leeson Lane garage relocation and Haven Lane addition, continues Sycamore Road wall. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 4-0 March 11 to grant a special permit for Edward Friedlander to demolish a garage at 18 Leeson Lane that sits over the town line and rebuild it two feet inside his property, with surveyor John Hamill staking the foundation. The same panel, Chair Thomas William White and members Adam Hirsh, Shaunt Sarian and Hunter Perry, also approved case 25-04 for Build Star Group LLC at 5 Haven Lane, conditioned on final Board of Health sign-off. A retaining wall case at 7 Sycamore Road was continued to April 8 pending a stamped survey. Member Aida A. Gennis joined for a 5-0 vote on a covered porch at 9 South Street. The board scheduled an interim remote meeting March 25 at 7 p.m. to finalize zoning overlay language for April town meeting. "Going forward, we really have to have these things in the board's hands," White said of late-arriving plans.
