WAYLAND — March 11, 2025 — Wayland committee lines up $225,000 Green Communities bid to replace gas-fired chiller. The Energy and Climate Committee on Tuesday backed a fully electric chiller at the Public Safety Building as its lead application for the April 4 spring grant round, with attic insulation at Town Hall's Children's Way as backup. Sustainability Manager Abigail Schutt said total project cost will approach $200,000 and would cap a gas line, calling it the town's "most competitive" option per Green Communities rep Dylan Patel. Chair Ellen Tohn asked for a written explainer on why a chiller rather than a heat pump. Members also amended February minutes to note Council on Aging solar canopies were dropped due to "design and site limitations," approved them unanimously, and heard from member Neil Gordon that the revolving loan fund article cleared the Select Board and Finance Committee with language limiting rebates to free-cash-funded projects.
