Wayland ZBA adopts response to open meeting law complaint
WAYLAND -- October 11, 2022, Wayland ZBA unanimously adopts response to open meeting law complaint over delayed minutes. The board voted 5-0 Tuesday to authorize Town Counsel Janelle M. Austin to file a response to a Sept. 16 complaint from resident George Harris, who alleged the Zoning Board of Appeals failed to timely process his request for executive session minutes from Jan. 19, Feb. 3 and March 31, 2021, tied to the Eden Management housing appeals matter. Chair Joshua Wernig acknowledged a "minor delay" and said the request had landed in a building department inbox amid significant staff turnover, including a vacant building commissioner post that has not yet been posted. The released minutes, redacted for attorney-client privilege, have since been provided to Harris, and the letter states the board "now considers the underlying request resolved." Member Jim Grumbach said the response "properly summarizes" the case; member Aida Gennis left before the vote. The board meets next Nov. 8, when it will also elect a new chair.
