WAYLAND — October 12, 2022 — Wayland water committee moves toward ProcellaCOR treatment of Dudley Pond milfoil. The Surface Water Quality Committee voted 4-0 Wednesday to authorize Chair Tom Klem to begin seeking Conservation Commission approval for a ProcellaCOR application next year, three years after a 2019 treatment that cost roughly $50,000. Member Norm, who oversees Dudley Pond, said invasive milfoil is "coming back way too strong." The committee also voted 4-0 to approve a press release on its new mechanical weed harvester and discussed buying a roughly $40,000 conveyor belt — not on the town's five-year capital plan — to stop heavy equipment from damaging Mansion Beach during offloading. Member Carole Plumb delivered a first report on cyanobacteria mitigation, including Phoslock clay priced near $3,000 per ton. Finance Committee member Carol Martin warned that "all of these cost money."
