Wayland Select Board creates Route 20 landfill visioning committee
WAYLAND -- October 19, 2020, Wayland selectmen form a Route 20 South Landfill visioning committee and seat three new volunteers. The board voted 5-0 Monday to launch a three-year study of the capped, town-owned South Landfill parcel, with member Tom Fay's draft charge expanded to expressly include affordable housing at member Mary Antes' request. Board of Public Works Vice Chair Clifford Lewis urged a delay, warning against a study "that subsequently sits on the shelf," but the board proceeded. Tom Clem was appointed to the Surface Water Quality Committee, Andrea Blesso to the Cultural Council and former selectman Doug Levine to the Wastewater Management District Commission. Separately, the board voted 5-0 to set a 10-year useful life on a $250,000 DPW dump truck, and Town Administrator Louise Miller reported Moody's reaffirmed Wayland's AAA rating ahead of Tuesday's bond sale. The town is awaiting a $2.2 million MassWorks grant decision on River's Edge wastewater.
