Wayland School Committee approves $52.6 million budget, joins Weston gymnastics co-op
WAYLAND — April 10, 2024 — Wayland School Committee approves $52.6 million fiscal 2025 budget and joins Weston gymnastics co-op. The recommended operating budget of $52,630,763 represents a 4.94 percent increase over fiscal 2024 after the Select Board agreed to use ARPA funds, not the school appropriation, to cover the $535,769 cost of eliminating full-day kindergarten tuition, Assistant Superintendent for Business Susan Bottan told members. The Finance Committee also voted $150,000 into the special education reserve fund, and the proposed school capital budget totals $1,133,300. The committee voted unanimously to authorize an unfunded varsity gymnastics co-op with Weston as host school, with Athletic Director Heath Rollins saying "the important thing I think is to get it going and then see where it grows." Acting Superintendent Dr. David Fleischman said searches for special education administrators should wrap by month's end.
