Wayland Planning Board moves to coordinate permitting with Conservation Commission

WAYLAND — October 11, 2022 — Wayland Planning Board pushes to align permitting with ConCom as MBTA deadline looms. The board on Oct. 11 endorsed shared peer reviewers, common stormwater consultants and joint applicant kickoff meetings with the Conservation Commission, after ConCom representative Sean Ferris joined remotely to restart a long-stalled rewrite of the town's Chapter 193 and 194 land-disturbance bylaws. Chair Anette S. Lewis and members Jennifer Steele and Dan Hill also reviewed amendments to the conservation cluster regulations and a January filing timeline for the state's MBTA Communities Act action plan. Hill, frustrated that town counsel KP Law had not yet been engaged, said the request "would have been probably a five-minute email," and demanded a written wastewater capacity report he said was essential for both MBTA zoning and the Route 20 master plan. Town Planner Robert Hummel told the board a Route 20 repaving-and-streetscape package the town expected from MassDOT "might not be a plan at all." Lewis confirmed she has been seated on the search committee for a successor to departing Town Manager Stephen Crane; John Bugbee becomes acting town manager Nov. 1.
