Wayland housing trust approves additional legal fees for Hammond Road Habitat project

WAYLAND — August 13, 2024 — Wayland trust adds $3,400 in legal fees to clear Hammond Road for Habitat build. The Municipal Affordable Housing Trust voted 4-0 Tuesday to authorize up to $2,400 for attorney Edward Rainen to handle a Land Court title review removing 12 Hammond Road from registered land, and another $1,000 — bringing the total to $6,000 — for the firm Alcock to fold the deregistration into its condo-doc work. Chair Michael Staiti said the fees will be paid from Community Preservation Act funds; the trust currently holds $1,162,516 in CPA money and $461,507 in non-CPA funds. Members also approved a letter to owners of vacant properties drafted by Susan Weinstein, a conditional letter of support for a local shared living proposal "subject to evidence of affordability and financing," and a reference letter to the Lexington Affordable Housing Trust on behalf of the Planning Office of Urban Affairs, developer of Wayland's 60-unit St. Anne's Senior Village.
