Wayland housing trust accepts Habitat proposal for 12 Hammond Road build
WAYLAND -- March 12, 2024, Wayland trust greenlights Habitat for Humanity build at 12 Hammond Road. The Municipal Affordable Housing Trust voted 4-0 Tuesday to accept Habitat's proposal and a second 4-0 vote authorized Chair Michael Staiti to sign the purchase and sale. Habitat's revised estimated budget is about $508,000, with the trust's out-of-pocket capped at the $400,000 in its RFP and an expected $100,000 to $150,000 recouped at sale. Staiti, who called the Worcester-area Habitat crew "professional, responsive, experienced," said execution and property transfer should take 60 to 90 days, with foundation work targeted for September or October. Members Mary M. Antes, Jacqueline Espiritusanto-Vega and Susan Weinstein backed both votes; the trust also tabled the stalled 212 Cochituate Road shared-living articles, which have been withdrawn from town meeting pending a U.S. Supreme Court ruling on tax-title surplus proceeds.
