Wayland Historic District Commission approves Millbrook Road home alterations

WAYLAND — February 15, 2024 — Historic District Commission clears Millbrook Road renovation, preserves future canopy option. The commission voted 4-0 on Feb. 15 to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to a home's south elevation — the only side visible from the public way — including new French doors, matching wood shingles, a brick step to an existing patio, and a matte-black gas stove pipe. Chair Greg Dale, member Seema Mysore and remote participant Lynn Cohen joined a fourth commissioner in approving the plans, which explicitly authorize a small canopy roof over the French doors at a later date without further review. A commissioner relayed outside design feedback calling the project "an improvement" with appropriate scale. Dale said he would forward the certificate to the building department the next day.
