Wayland HRDEI committee endorses petition to change state flag and seal

WAYLAND — February 20, 2024 — Wayland's HRDEI committee unanimously endorses petition to change the Massachusetts flag and seal. The Feb. 20 vote backs a citizen's article filed by chair Karen, who recused herself before the discussion; the resolution will be forwarded to Sen. Jamie Eldridge and Reps. Carmine Gentile and David Linsky urging they make a redesign a "top legislative priority." Karen reported 79 Massachusetts communities have already adopted similar resolutions. Members also unanimously authorized the chair to issue emergency statements working with at least one other member, locked in a rotating acting vice chair schedule through June, and heard that the town received 10 bids for its equity assessment. The second annual Multicultural Festival is set for June 2; the SPIRIT community program runs April 28, capped at 100 participants.
