Wayland Economic Development panel charts next moves after Terrain approval

WAYLAND — May 16, 2025 — Wayland EDC regroups after Terrain approval as Town Center hits the market. Chair Rebecca Stanizzi told the committee Friday that the ZBA approved the Terrain restaurant and event venue Tuesday with written conditions including an 11 p.m. event cutoff Fridays and Saturdays, a 9 p.m. restaurant close other nights, and no right turns onto Pelham Island Road after 9 p.m.; Stanizzi said roughly two-thirds of public letters were supportive. Town Planner Michael McCall reported Newmark formally listed Town Center on Thursday ahead of the ICSC convention, after Raytheon's deed restrictions blocked residential development under MBTA Communities zoning. McCall said the state's $300,000 economic development bond earmark remains stalled pending the FY26 capital investment plan, but he and Town Manager Brian Keveney are "cautiously optimistic" Wayland can build an FY27 budget within the levy. The committee approved March and April minutes 4-0 and set its next meeting for June 13.
