Wayland design board backs Dunkin-Jimmy John's plan with four conditions

WAYLAND — May 14, 2025 — Wayland Design Review Advisory Board recommends Dunkin and Jimmy John's at old Bank of America site, 3-0, with conditions. The May 14 vote on the 2,397-square-foot conversion at 289 Boston Post Road, presented by Kevin Sweet of Blueprint Strategies for franchisees Mark and Megan Paish, attached four conditions: aligning signage with the 40-square-foot cap in section 198-501.1, screening the new walk-in cooler on the east side, restoring window openings bricked up on the south facade, and using railings consistent with the building's Georgian style. Member Robin Borgestedt pegged the proposed signage at 68.5 square feet; Chair William Sterling said "everything on that building should be in consistency with that Georgian-style look." The board also voted 3-0 to recommend denial of a Wayland Pack and Ship sign at 297 Boston Post Road for lack of information, and 3-0 to approve a sign for Hair by Diana at 76 Main Street.
