Wayland design board backs new Dunkin' signs, wants setback figures

WAYLAND — January 8, 2025 — Wayland advisory board recommends new Dunkin' signs pending setback documentation. The Design Review Advisory Board voted unanimously Wednesday to endorse a Poyant Signs application to replace wall and panel signage at the Dunkin' at 15 East Plain St., shrinking combined wall signage from about 23 square feet to 18 and swapping face panels on an existing monument sign and a freestanding "piano" sign. Applicant Jen Robichaud told the board there would be "no change" to the existing external illumination — "Zilch," she said. The chair pressed for setback dimensions on the freestanding signs, noting many town signs are non-conforming and that the data will be needed at the Zoning Board of Appeals. Robichaud agreed to email the figures to Town Planner Robert Hummel. The board also approved its Dec. 4, 2024 minutes and revived plans to draft a letter seeking Planning Board authorization to update what the chair called "really obsolete" design guidelines.
