Wayland Cultural Council funds two utility-box wraps, tables bench project

WAYLAND — February 13, 2024 — Wayland Cultural Council commits $1,000 to utility-box art and tables bench project on tight budget. Treasurer Naresh Mysore reported a $6,700 Massachusetts Cultural Council allocation supplemented to $12,600 with prior-year carryover, of which $11,260 was awarded to grantees this cycle, leaving $1,005 for internal projects after a $335 administrative fee. Two utility-box wraps at $500 each will consume nearly all of that, leaving "$5 that's left," Mysore said, prompting members to defer a public bench installation. Chair Rachel Seidman-Kertz and member Pallavi Nagesha confirmed a March 18 grantee reception at 6 p.m. will be staffed potluck-style — with platters from Lynn Lipkond, Ashley Fuller, Dona Mitra and Nora Rothschild — after restaurant catering quotes would have exhausted the council's entire administrative budget for roughly 30 guests.
