Wayland committee to seek March bids for Dudley Pond ProcellaCOR treatment
WAYLAND -- January 11, 2023, Wayland water committee plans March bid for $35,000-$40,000 Dudley Pond herbicide treatment. The Surface Water Quality Committee on Jan. 11 mapped out a Chapter 30B three-quote procurement for a June ProcellaCOR application targeting milfoil, with member Norm Marowitz warning that inexperienced bidders could "low-ball you on the cost of the project to get the job" by skimping on chemical volume. Staffer John Bugbee said the town cannot set an experience minimum but can solicit from distant qualified firms to hit the three-quote requirement. Carole Plumb separately reported a 171.88 nanograms-per-liter PFAS detection in groundwater at the former DPW site at 195 Main St., well above the 20-ppt state drinking water standard. Member Thomas J. Largy said he will re-up the annual Heard Pond water chestnut contract, last priced at $9,900.
