WAYLAND — September 15, 2025 — Wayland Board of Health hears high school septic redesign, mental health agency report. Town Engineer Abby Charest told the board on Sept. 15 that Tighe & Bond will design a Title 5 system at Wayland High School under 10,000 gallons per day — roughly 8,000 gpd measured — using Amphidrome nitrogen-reducing technology because the site sits in a Zone 2 wellhead area, with construction targeted after baseball season. "The pre-treatment is going to be the secret," Charest said. HRS Executive Director Lindsay Steinsiek reported 1,192 clinical hours for Wayland residents in FY25, up from 864 in FY24 and 677 in FY23, with 31 new intakes, 52 unique clients and anxiety as the leading diagnosis. Health Director Julia Junghanns said septic permits rose to 116 from 109, building reviews to 280 from 207, and new public health nurse Laura Carter starts Sept. 22; flu clinics are set for Oct. 15 and Oct. 22.
