Wayland Board of Health approves Woodridge Road septic variance in 3-0 vote

WAYLAND — February 12, 2024 — Wayland Board of Health approves a Woodridge Road septic variance and denies a Housing Authority fee waiver. The board voted 3-0 to grant a local variance allowing 28 Woodridge Road owner Renee Tobias to retain a non-monolithic septic tank and H-20 distribution box, clearing the way to lift a two-bedroom deed restriction on the 2005 system; engineer Alex Chong of Chong Engineering said added inspection ports, a bypass line and magnetic locator tape would bring the system into compliance. In a second 3-0 vote, members rejected a Wayland Housing Authority request, conveyed in a letter from Dr. Brian Bogia, to waive roughly $600 in permit fees for a new septic at 268 Main Street, even though the authority paid $43,587 to the town in lieu of taxes this fiscal year. "It's not like one of those application fees that has nothing behind it," member Jonathan Storer said. Chair Robert Defrancesco and Dr. Bob Ayer joined Storer; member Genevieve Anand was absent.
