Wayland assessors switch commercial appraisal vendor to Bishop and Associates

WAYLAND -- April 24, 2023, Wayland assessors switch commercial appraisal vendor to Bishop and Associates. The Board of Assessors confirmed at its April 24 remote meeting that the town has verbally extended a three-year contract to Roy Bishop's firm, replacing Vision Government Solutions and saving roughly $23,000. The director told members he had waited since Feb. 13 for commercial analysis from Vision needed to resolve fiscal 2023 abatements and Appellate Tax Board cases, saying "Wayland deserves better." Member Massimo Taurisano said he would have had "reservations" about a cheaper but less experienced bidder. Chair Zachariah L. Ventress and member Steven Klitgord joined Taurisano in unanimously approving April 11 minutes. The board moved its next meeting from May 15 to May 1 to act on outstanding commercial abatements before the 90-day statutory deadline, and is targeting mid-June for the first preliminary fiscal 2024 bills issued from the new Munis system.
