Wayland assessors log 47 abatement applications, begin field visits

WAYLAND — February 6, 2023 — Wayland assessors take in 47 FY 2024 abatement applications and start field visits. Director of Assessing Rob Lemire told the Board of Assessors on Feb. 6 that 48 applications arrived by the Feb. 1 deadline, with one Dahlia condominium withdrawn at midday, leaving 47 — all real estate, and no personal property filings yet. The mix includes 29 single- or multifamily homes, eight condominiums, eight commercial parcels tied to an August town purchase from Boston Retail LLC that will be abated and made exempt as a clerical matter, one nursing home and one vacant lot. The board, chaired by Zachariah L. Ventress, also unanimously approved eight January motor vehicle excise abatements totaling $3,050.26. Lemire said the town is "cutting the cord on VADAR software" June 30 in favor of Munis, with 10 years of history being preserved in PDF and Excel.
