Wayland assessors defer abatement rulings to April 10 meeting
WAYLAND -- March 20, 2023, Wayland Board of Assessors defers six pending abatements to April 10. Chair Zachariah L. Ventress, Vice-Chair Philip David Parks and member Steven Klitgord met remotely March 20 for a nine-minute open session before entering executive session on fiscal 2023 real estate and personal property abatements. Two residential cases, one involving a multi-apartment building now under outside consulting review, another tied to an active Appellate Tax Board matter, and four commercial abatements being worked by town vendor Vision remain unresolved. Staff said the two-week gap before the next meeting is needed to "tie up all real estate abatements" and clear items for the Treasurer/Tax Collector. The office also reported nine candidates lined up for administrative assistant interviews this week and rolled out revisions to the excise abatement, change-of-address and certified abutters forms.
