Wayland assessors clear 14 June excise abatements, defer wastewater warrant

WAYLAND — July 11, 2023 — Wayland assessors approve $1,506.37 in June excise abatements, table wastewater warrant. Meeting remotely on July 11 with acting chair Sharon Burke presiding, the Board of Assessors unanimously cleared 14 fiscal 2024 motor vehicle excise abatements totaling $1,506.37 for June 2023. Members Steven Klitgord and Massimo Taurisano joined Burke in a 3-0 vote to defer the fiscal 2023 third- and fourth-quarter wastewater lien warrant and commitment, citing "a potential problem with wastewater." Staff reported the office is "humming with activity," with Lisa Sullivan reviewing roughly 46 Chapter Land parcels and field staff working building permits for fiscal 2024 new growth. The board entered executive session at 5:17 p.m. to discuss fiscal 2022 Appellate Tax Board cases and did not return to open session. The next meeting is set for July 18.
