Wayland assessors back $76,000 CPA bid to preserve historic ledgers

WAYLAND — November 4, 2024 — Wayland assessors vote 3-0 to seek $76,000 in CPA funding to preserve historic ledgers. The Board of Assessors, meeting remotely Monday with members Steven Klitgord, Massimo Taurisano and Douglass McNeilly present, authorized Director of Assessing Rob to apply for roughly $58,000 to rehabilitate eight deteriorated assessor's ledgers and about $18,000 for archival storage boxes. Boston Public Library has agreed to scan the volumes at no cost once they are stable, Rob said, calling for "the board's nudge to apply for CPA funding" to "get them back in the vault." The Historical Commission was reviewing the request the same evening and is expected to weigh in after Nov. 14. The board also unanimously approved submission of fiscal 2025 DLS Gateway forms LA-3, LA-4 and LA-13, and reported 20 owner interactions during the disclosure period with one value adjustment.
