Trust Fund Commission approves $1,890 of $5,390 schools request
WAYLAND -- August 12, 2024, Wayland Trust Fund Commission cuts schools request to $1,890, citing back-to-back overages. Meeting remotely Aug. 12 with member Barry's. Rothschild absent, commissioners Adam Garrett Gutbezahl and Robert Fox unanimously released $1,890 from the $83,409 Greaves Fund for the Tanglewood Marionettes but rejected a $3,500 tape art line that would have pushed the total to 6.4 percent of the fund, well above the commission's 3.5 percent safe-spending guidepost. Gutbezahl noted the schools' cultural enrichment committee received $6,150 from the same fund in June 2023, also above guidance, and said another full approval would risk "raiding the fund." The commission also authorized Treasurer/Collector Brittany Lily Marasco to send the Wayland Free Public Library an annual 3.5 percent distribution letter, and approved its fiscal 2023 annual report with the Millennium Fund still included pending an unresolved transfer.
