Planning Board pushes Veritas decision to May 27, reorganizes officers
WAYLAND -- April 15, 2025, Wayland Planning Board delays Veritas Christian Academy decision and re-elects Lewis through September. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to continue the PB-2405 site plan hearing for the 164-172 Cochituate Road campus to May 13 and to extend its decision deadline to May 27, after applicant's counsel Scott Schlager of Troutman Pepper Locke said the Board of Health, Conservation Commission and peer reviewer Dillis and Roy had not yet signed off. Chair Anette S. Lewis flagged missing legends on landscape sheets L100-L300 and a light-pole height that jumped from 16 to 20 feet between submissions, saying, "We just want to make sure that we know what we've approved." Member Larry Kiernan criticized overlapping board jurisdictions, "I feel like we're being a nanny state", and town planner Robert Hummel reported Town Meeting passed both Planning Board zoning articles plus a pickup-window article. Robin Borgestedt was elected vice chair and Jesse Newberry clerk; meetings move to Wednesdays July 1.
