Planning Board asks town to halt Launchway construction over bylaw violations
WAYLAND -- August 1, 2023, Wayland Planning Board asks town counsel to investigate rescinding Launchway building permits. Chair Anette S. Lewis told the board Tuesday that the building commissioner has issued permits for all roughly 12 units at the former military housing site, even though the developer's reconfigured interiors appear to exceed the gross floor area cap in the town-meeting bylaw the town relied on for its appraisal-capped CPC bid. "They are building. They started building before I saw any permits," Lewis said. Town Manager Michael McCall said the commissioner did his "own independent analysis" in May; town counsel Amy Quessel agreed to review whether the permits were issued in error and can be rescinded. Separately, the board continued the 60 Shaw Drive five-lot conservation cluster hearing to Nov. 14 over an unresolved 15-foot setback dispute under bylaw 1803.1.6.
