Planning Board approves Parmenter Hospice expansion from six to 10 beds

WAYLAND -- October 24, 2023, Planning Board clears Parmenter Hospice expansion from six to 10 beds at Greenways. The board voted 4-0 on Oct. 24 to amend a 1998 special permit, approving the bed increase, a five-foot pedestrian walkway, and updated signage along the Route 27 access road. Attorney Josh Fox told the board his client was "relatively neutral" on the walkway but wanted "the path of least resistance," and Chair Anette S. Lewis said former member Gretchen Schuler, who served when the original permit issued, still favored building it. After objections that a proposed brick sign base looked "industrial," consultant Jason Ferdette substituted split-face Chelmsford gray granite columns at 28.54 square feet. The board also scheduled a Nov. 14 Zoning Board of Appeals hearing at 6:30 p.m. on its own appeal of Launchaway building permits, with Lewis and member Dan Hill presenting.
