Planning Board approves Islamic Center site plan at 129 Boston Post Road

WAYLAND -- January 7, 2025, Wayland Planning Board approves Islamic Center site plan and advances ADU compliance bylaw. The board voted 5-0 Tuesday to approve site plan application 24-06 from the Islamic Center of Boston for 129 Boston Post Road, after applicant representative Bruce Ringwald walked members through final plans dated Dec. 19 that eliminated two parking spaces, widened an aisle to 20 feet for fire-truck turning, and added a pedestrian sidewalk to Boston Post Road. The 35-space lot will require a MassDOT permit before construction. The board also opened public hearings on two spring town meeting articles, voting 5-0 to recommend a housekeeping article correcting FEMA floodplain map citations and three overlay-district descriptions, while deferring a vote on the accessory dwelling unit bylaw, required by a state law taking effect Feb. 2, to Jan. 14. Members stripped the Roadside Business District from by-right ADU zoning and added single-ownership language, with Building Commissioner Mike Christofoli warning that separated ownership risked "the Hatfields versus the McCoys in property lines."
