Housing Partnership endorses 40B affordable senior project at St. Ann's

WAYLAND — January 24, 2023 — Wayland Housing Partnership unanimously endorses 100 percent affordable senior 40B at St. Ann's Church. The 8-0 vote at a special Jan. 24 meeting clears a support letter for the Planning Office of Urban Affairs, the Archdiocese of Boston's housing affiliate, to file with the state Department of Housing and Community Development before the Jan. 31 deadline. The Low-Income Housing Tax Credit project — Wayland's first — would build 45 to 65 one-bedroom units for older adults at 30 to 60 percent of area median income, with two stories along Route 27 and three in the rear. Real Estate Director Shana McCormick Houston said the team is aiming for 12 deeply subsidized units at 30 percent AMI: "I feel confident we will get at least eight, but 12 seems a very reasonable number to ask." Member James Grumbach, who also sits on the Zoning Board of Appeals, reported pushback from Windy Hill Lane abutters but said massing and siting concerns are typically negotiable.
