Housing Partnership advances St. Ann's elderly housing plan, eyes group home addition

WAYLAND — December 7, 2022 — Wayland Housing Partnership backs 40-plus-unit St. Ann's elderly housing plan and presses for group home addition. Member Rachel Bratt reported the Planning Office of Urban Affairs, the Archdiocese of Boston's development arm, is advancing 40 to 45 elderly units and now exploring a six-to-12-bedroom group home for developmentally disabled adults after pushback from town housing staff Brian Boggia and Katherine Provost. Bratt told the Municipal Affordable Housing Trust the town's share would run $100,000 to $200,000 across trust, CPA and HOME Consortium funds, with the bulk from federal low-income housing tax credits. Chair Mary Antes said trust members called the figure "a huge bargain." The committee also voted 6-0 to urge the Select Board to commission an environmental study at the 212 Constituent parcel, and heard that a 60-unit, four-story 40B proposal at the former Mahoney's site is back before the Conservation Commission with a Dec. 13 site visit.
