Historic District Commission approves new window at 39 Bow Road

WAYLAND — April 28, 2025 — Wayland Historic District Commission approves a relocated 16-light window at 39 Bow Road. Commissioners voted unanimously Monday to let member Alex Finlayson, appearing as applicant, move an original interior window to a second-story exterior wall to light an interior stair, matching an identical window on the opposite facade and including an eyebrow detail above. Chair Greg Dale called the offset placement "a little quirky and charming," and Alternate Member Gretchen Schuler said it "reads the plan." The commission also took up 13 interpretive signs proposed by the town's Rail Trail Signage and Amenity Committee, including two "Welcome to Wayland" signs at the Weston and Sudbury lines, with a state earmark requiring spending by June 30. Vice Chair Margery F. Baston urged the committee to drop a reference to a historic depot robbery, warning that sign content is "everlasting." The hearing was continued for proper public notice.
