Housing Partnership plans fall forum on accessory dwelling units

WAYLAND — April 30, 2025 — Wayland Housing Partnership maps out fall ADU forum and passes on Stonebridge buyback. The committee, chaired by Mary Antes, spent most of its April 30 meeting hearing from resident Jean Milburn, who is organizing a coalition to promote accessory dwelling units under the town's new state-compliant bylaw. Milburn framed ADUs as a roughly $250,000 investment for homeowners versus $750,000 to buy land elsewhere, calling it "doing well while doing good." Member Janot Mendler De Suarez said the Human Rights, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee has voted to co-sponsor the fall forum. On 97 Stonebridge, the partnership reached informal consensus, without a formal vote, that the town should not exercise its right of first refusal on the distressed affordable condo, instead encouraging a sale under the existing deed rider. Member Catherine Provost was appointed to the Article 212 shared-housing RFP working group.
