Wayland ZBA splits 60-unit 40B review across two June hearings

WAYLAND -- June 1, 2023, Wayland ZBA sets a three-meeting track for a 60-unit, 100 percent affordable 40B rental. The board voted 7-0 Thursday to continue the Planning Office for Urban Affairs comprehensive permit hearing for 124 Kitchwood Road to June 8 at 7:05 p.m., with architectural, grading and landscaping review first and traffic, parking, wetlands and stormwater reserved for June 15; June 28 is tentatively held for waivers and wrap-up. Chair Joshua Wernig said the board must protect at least five members who attend every session, warning "you want to preserve eight people as much as you can." Tetra Tech peer reviewer Sean Reardon will deliver written engineering comments by June 15. Member Jim Grumbach flagged a May 22 neighbor letter raising 10 to 15 issues that do not fit the topic buckets; Wernig said those will be heard June 8 under agendas worded "including but not limited to."
