Wayland ZBA continues Townhouse bistro hearing over parking-relief questions

WAYLAND -- September 9, 2025, Wayland ZBA delays Townhouse bistro decision over parking-relief bylaw questions. The board voted unanimously Tuesday to continue Millbrook Group founder Kirsten Lipson's restaurant special permit application for 21 Cochituate Road to Oct. 14, after Chair Thomas William White said he needed town counsel's guidance on whether bylaw section 401.1.2 could support waiving parking requirements for the 1841 building, which has no on-site spaces. Lipson projected 15.8 weekday and 18.3 weekend spaces required against existing relief for 13.5. Town Manager Michael McCall and Library Trustee Wynne Trees both ruled out municipal and library lot use, citing liability and a 1986 town meeting vote. Member Hunter Perry called the support an "absolute outcry." Separately, the board approved 4-0 a setback amendment for 10 Sherman Road, shifting a side-yard setback to 8 feet 9 inches.
