Wayland ZBA approves three home expansions, continues fourth to April
WAYLAND -- March 12, 2024, Wayland ZBA clears three additions but delays Davlin Road expansion amid neighbor concerns. The Zoning Board of Appeals, chaired by Joshua Wernig, voted unanimously on March 12 to grant special permits to applicants at 23B Bayfield Road, 26 White Road, and 14 Hill Street, with member Hunter Perry, Doug Levine and Wernig each volunteering to draft decisions. The Bayfield Road in-law suite, pursued by applicant Henry McClain for owners Ralph Palmeyer and Elizabeth Demers, passed 4-0 after seven continuances since September. The Hill Street project nearly doubles floor area, a roughly 105 percent increase that member Aida A. Gennis defended by noting "land is unique" and the lot abuts conservation land. The board continued Ernie Fitzgerald's 16 Davlin Road application to April 9 after abutters Jack Paulfield and Sally Lear said the proposed 29.6-foot height and shed dormers "would stand out" against a neighborhood of 1950s-era ranches and Capes.
