Wayland wastewater panel approves $125,000 Route 20 sewer design request
WAYLAND -- November 17, 2025, Wayland wastewater commission backs $125,000 sewer design and opens 13-unit Hastings connection talks. The commission, chaired by Michael Gitten, voted Monday to include $125,000 in its fiscal 2027 capital request to design a replacement low-pressure sewer along Route 20, ahead of a roughly $10 million state-funded road rehabilitation. DPW Director Thomas Holder said the town would fund design while the state Transportation Improvement Program would likely cover construction, with a $2 million construction line tentatively set for fiscal 2028. Commissioners separately authorized staff to negotiate a six-month payment plan with a Hastings-area HOA seeking to connect 13 dwellings at roughly $70,000 in privilege fees, with Holder insisting "we don't want to consider anything but all 13." Administrator Sarah Pawluczonek reported $295,000 in user charges collected through Nov. 14 against a $533,000 budget, liens of just $6,135, and roughly 9,000 gallons of design capacity remaining against three pending requests.
