Wayland wastewater committee logs blown fuses, delayed PLC upgrade in December
WAYLAND -- January 13, 2025, Wayland wastewater plant weathers fuse and PLC scares, eyes year-end surplus. Operations Manager Jared Cotton told the Wastewater Management Committee on Monday that he blew two fuses in a PLC cabinet, shutting the plant down until he drove to Grainger for replacements, "a high anxiety few hours, but no issues in the long run." A separate Dec. 23 PLC fault and internet outage, possibly surge-related, were resolved with LCS and Verizon support. Administrator Sarah Pawluczonek reported expenses at roughly 95 percent of budget and revenue at about 114 percent, lifted by a delinquent residential account paying its September bill. A design change on the delayed screening project, now expected in April, returned a $9,000 change order. Flow holds at 30,000–32,000 gpd. Chair Michael Gitten and Darrin Bock voted 2-0 to approve Dec. 16 minutes.
