Wayland sewer board hears Cascade Development pitch for line extension
WAYLAND -- December 16, 2024, Wayland sewer commission hears pitch to extend main east to stalled 60-unit Cascade project. Attorney Paul and engineer Bill Doyle, representing Cascade Development at 115 Boston Post Road, asked the Wastewater Management District Commission on Monday whether the town would extend its sewer roughly a mile from the library to serve the site instead of a planned on-site treatment plant. Chair Michael Gitten said no extension is budgeted and that the commission's roughly 11,000 gallons per day of available capacity, against the project's 10,600-gallon demand, is "first-come, first-served," with a privilege fee of $24.67 per gallon per day. The board voted 2-0 to endorse a proposed FY26 operating budget of $949,688, with new debt service driving a roughly 10 percent rate increase. Operations Manager Jared Cotton reported replacing 22 of 400 membrane plates in November, all within budget.
