Wayland DPW board approves FY26 capital plan, sends package to Finance Committee

WAYLAND -- December 17, 2024, Wayland DPW board unanimously endorses FY26 capital plan anchored by water tank and MWRA design boosts. The Board of Public Works voted 5-0 to forward a plan that adds $1.3 million to upsize a planned Reeves Hill tank to 750,000 gallons, on top of $2.5 million already appropriated, and $1.23 million in supplemental design funding for a permanent MWRA connection, after applying roughly $100,000 in surplus ARPA funds. Public Works Director Tom said the construction phase qualifies for a zero-percent State Revolving Fund loan because the work is PFAS-driven. The package also includes $756,250 for road work, $125,000 for stormwater, and $300,000 for Baldwin Pond garage upgrades. Select Board liaison Carol Martin told the board cost estimates for the permanent MWRA project now range from $22 million to as high as $45 million; a joint meeting is tentatively set for Feb. 24.
