Wayland Housing Partnership prioritizes supportive housing and MBTA zoning compliance

WAYLAND — March 1, 2023 — Wayland Housing Partnership sets supportive housing and MBTA zoning as twin priorities. At its March 1 meeting, the partnership heard a white paper from Wayland Housing Authority representative Brian Boggia urging shared-living units for adults with intellectual disabilities, with the town-owned four-acre parcel at 212 Cochituate Road floated as a possible site. Joanne Barnett said the housing authority fields calls from desperate parents "two to three times a week." Chair Mary Antes said the town has submitted, but not publicly released, its MBTA Communities plan requiring roughly 50 acres zoned for 750 multi-family units. Member Rachel Bratt called for a town-wide housing summit. Members also flagged a March 20 Select Board hearing on Mill Creek's 172-unit rental proposal, 25 percent affordable, at the former Whole Foods site, and confirmed the next meeting for April 5.
