Wayland Housing Partnership endorses St. Anne's 40B, reappoints trust representative

WAYLAND -- June 6, 2023, Wayland Housing Partnership backs St. Anne's 40B and reappoints its trust representative. The partnership voted unanimously June 6 to recommend Jacqueline Espirtusanto-Vega for another term on the Affordable Housing Trust and to authorize member Rachel Bratt to send a letter supporting the St. Anne's comprehensive permit to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Member James Grumbach, who sits on the ZBA, said the board expects to close its review by June 28 and that the only organized opposition is "four people on Windy Hill" Road seeking to relocate the building. Chair Mary Antes said town treasurer Lily Marasco has identified 21 Wayland properties facing tax foreclosure, most owing under $15,000, plus seven in deeper distress including a Chapter 40B unit at Wayland Commons that has gone more than a decade without tax payments. A comparable affordable resale at the former Nike site is listed at roughly $241,000. Members Joanne Barnett and Chris DeBona attended their final meeting.
