Wayland Finance Committee confirms Correa resignation, faces leadership transition

WAYLAND — June 17, 2024 — Wayland Finance Committee confirms Steve Correa's resignation amid a looming leadership shuffle. Chair Pam Roman announced June 17 that Correa stepped down for health and personal reasons, leaving his seat open in fiscal 2027, and reiterated she will not seek another term as chair. Vice Chair Brian O'Herlihy told members he would accept only a one-year reappointment and declined to chair, saying it would "cause me not to seek reappointment." O'Herlihy reported the town's budget working group is projecting a fiscal 2026 levy deficit and growing gaps through fiscal 2029; full-day kindergarten alone is now pegged at roughly $590,000 next year, up from $535,000, with about $250,000 in pending state aid potentially offsetting it. Member Kelly Lappin is rotating off June 30 and handed capital planning duties to April LaTour. The committee voted 5-0 to approve May 29 minutes and meets again June 24 on year-end transfers.
